An Invitation...

Dear friends,

The beginning of Lent is upon us.  Join us for Ash Wednesday Mass at Bethany House at 7:00pm - this Wednesday, March 1.

Lent is a time for drawing nearer to Jesus, for having our blind-spots revealed to us, and for finding healing in his love and mercy.

Bethany House is 408 Levee Road - across from the MCHS football stadium.  Call 859-404-8374 if you need a ride.

God bless you!

A New Gift...

Hello, friends!

We’re happy to share these pictures of our new Lenten Altar frontal and pulpit scarf made by one of the ladies at Bethany House - our very own Alice Borland!

These were made from the material used as Lenten frontal/covers for our previous Altar.  As we make our way through the Church year, new frontals and scarfs will appear - Red for Holy Week and Pentecost, Gold for Easter and Christmas, Green for Trinitytide and Epiphanytide, and Violet/Blue for Advent.

Each set of frontals and pulpit scarfs matches our set of chasubles (also made by Alice) for each season of the Church year.  We are truly blessed to have someone with the talent to craft these items, that we might enjoy them throughout the year!

An Update from Bethany House...

Hello, MAMA Church Family and Friends!

My goodness, what news we have for you!  The brothers and sisters of Mary and Martha at Bethany House are on the move - and we sure could use your help!  We’re in the process of moving, full throttle, into ministry with New Beginnings of Winchester, into the collection of maternity and baby supplies, and even into some further changes to Bethany House itself.

On Thursday, March 9, we’ll be meeting with Lisa Whitaker - the Executive Director of New Beginnings - so she can see our facility, give us our “marching orders”, and make preparations for mothers’ and fathers’ mentoring classes that New Beginnings will be conducting at Bethany House.  To help further the ministry of New Beginnings at Bethany House, the brothers and sisters of Mary and Martha are ramping up - rapidly - the collection of items to help new mothers and their families.  We’re looking to collect donations of everything from maternity clothes to baby clothes to all sorts of baby supplies.

In addition, the remodeling of Bethany House is continuing.  We’re pulling up old carpet and finding, to our great delight, beautiful wood floors!  We’re also continuing the fundraising and search for chairs for the Chapel of Saints Mary and Martha at Bethany House - to help facilitate the needs of New Beginnings.  After we’ve refinished a small area of flooring, we’ll be moving on with further painting in preparation for housing New Beginnings at Bethany House.

Finally, we’d like to ask for your help.  Here are some ways you can help us:

1. Pray for us, that we would follow the will of the Lord in all that we do;

2. Donate maternity and/or baby supplies (for those who are far away, you can mail supplies or send a check to MAMA Church, PO Box 502, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353);

3. Donate to our “Chair Fund” by going to our “Go Fund Me” page - https://www.gofundme.com/chairs-for-bethany-house - or by sending us a check (to MAMA Church Chair Fund to MAMA Church, PO Box 502, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353);

4. If you’re on Facebook (or are willing to forward this e-mail to your friends), we sure would appreciate you “liking” our Bethany House Facebook page and sharing our posts on your own Facebook page.  Every time you share our posts, our reach and audience of potential helpers is multiplied!

We thank the Lord for each of you, and pray his blessings on your lives.  If you have a prayer concern you would like us to lift up, please let us know!

God bless you!

A Special Announcement...

Mass at Bethany House is Cancelled for this Sunday.

Hello, friends!  I’ve just returned from the doctor’s office - I do indeed have the flu and was advised to steer clear of people until Monday.  I specifically asked about Mass on Sunday, and Doc said it would not be a good idea.  Even though I hate to do this, I do NOT want to expose anyone to the flu virus.  So, we’ll be safe rather than sorry and cancel Mass for Sunday, February 5.

God bless you!
